Major Players in the Abaca Industry Endorse the Philippine Abaca Industry Roadmap 2017-2022

Major players in the abaca industry comprising of exporters, pulp millers, cordage manufacturers and farmers have recently signed a statement endorsing the Philippine Abaca Industry Roadmap 2017-2022 for approval of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol. The roadmap prepared by PhilFIDA was finalized after some consultations made with the private sector and the final presentation of which was held last 03 March 2017 in Quezon City.

These major players are involved in abaca production and processing and play important roles in promoting and preserving the Philippine abaca industry. Endorsing the Roadmap attests their support to the industry and to strengthen the country’s status as the number one producer and supplier of abaca fibers worldwide.

The roadmap sets the direction for the Philippine abaca industry for the next 5 years and is targeted to be implemented to meet the volume of abaca fibers needed by the domestic and international markets.
