The Abakahuyan Development Program of PhilFIDA Region VII, funded through the Organic Agriculture Promotion of the Department of Agriculture, was formally launched last 15 August 2014 at Sitio Avocado, Talalak, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental. The affair was attended by the local government units of the province who serve as PhilFIDA’s partner implementers of the program. As part of this project, several trainings were already conducted on abaca-rubber farming activities, organic agriculture, and abaca-coffee production. At present, more than twenty (20) hectares of new abaca areas were already opened and farm expansion is still on-going. The Office of Congressman Henry Pryde Teves supports PhilFIDA in the implementation of the activities under the Abakahuyan Development Program.
