PHILFIDA RO VII Conducts Farmers’ Training on Cotton Production and Pest Management in Bayawan City

In preparation for the 2023-2024 cotton cropping season, the PHILFIDA RO VII-Negros Oriental Provincial Office conducted a Farmers’ Training on Cotton Production and Pest Management at BMAKB Compound, Bayawan City, on September 19, 2023. This training was organized for the members and officers of the Nangka Farmers’ Association, the partner organization in the Cotton Development Project. The event was attended by 52 farmer-beneficiaries, with support from the Technical Assistance Unit Head and personnel from RO VII.

The comprehensive training covered essential topics, including The Cotton Plant, Cotton Production, Cotton Pests and Their Management, Common Diseases of the Cotton Plant, and Weeds Associated with Cotton.

In addition to the training, participating Cotton Farmers submitted their letters of intent to avail themselves of the project and received 10 kg of cotton seeds per hectare. The areas of the participants had been validated by RO VII.
