PhilFIDA RSO VI Empowers Farmers with Training on Cotton Production Technology in Brgy. Poblacion, Tigbauan, Iloilo

On September 6, 2023, the PhilFIDA RSO VI conducted a comprehensive one-day training on Cotton Production Technology at the Municipal Hall Conference Room in Brgy. Poblacion, Tigbauan, Iloilo. The training was led by Mr. Tarcesio Jr. J. Nervar, the Technical Assistance Unit Head, who was joined by the Cotton Focal Person Mr. Nemspat Joevenet De Juan, an Agricultural Technician, as well as two Project Development Officers I of RSO VI
The participants included representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tigbauan, Department of Agriculture (DA) Technicians, and a group of twelve (12) dedicated cotton farmers who were enthusiastic to learn, update, and develop more their skills in cotton cultivation.
This training session was filled with informative discussions, practical demonstrations, and collaborative planning to set targets and establish a timeframe for cotton production in the area. Key topics covered during the training included an agency overview, the morphological structure, and developmental stages of cotton, cultural management practices, pest management, and safe handling of chemicals and empty containers.
As part of our commitment to achieve clear objectives, an open forum and strategic planning session were also conducted. These efforts align with the goals of one of the agency's projects, the Cotton Development Project, aimed at advancing the cotton farming sector.
