Date Posted 11 October 2023

In observance of the National Indigenous Peoples month, the Department of Agriculture (DA) in collaboration with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Local Government Unit of Surigao del Sur, and private sector - the Bounty Fresh and Chooks-To-Go handover abaca stripping machines to the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in CARAGA Region at Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

“DA-PhilFIDA warmly embraces the intervention offered by Bounty Fresh/Chooks-to-go, as they generously provide abaca stripping machines. This endeavor holds the promise of significantly increasing the production of high-quality abaca fibers, not only within the Province but across the country as a whole. In return, we will provide capacity building, required training in fiber production, technical assistance, and other support services to our cherished ICCs/IPs. In addition, our Regional Field Office here in CARAGA Region through our Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo or 4Ks Program of the DA is in the process of procuring 40 thousand abaca planting materials dedicated for our ICCs/IPs farmers” said DA Assistant Secretary Velicaria-Guevarra.
