Date Posted 18 September 2023

This year, as the Philippines hosts the 2023 Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) - Global Policy Forum (AFI-GPF), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has invited the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) to participate in showcasing exceptional natural fiber products crafted from materials such as abaca, piña, cotton, and buntal on September 12-15, 2023, at the PICC, Pasay City.

The primary objective of this platform is to spotlight the remarkable diversity of fibers and weaving traditions from the regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to an audience of approximately 800 distinguished guests and participants.

The roster of invited exhibitors, including Narda's Handwoven Arts & Crafts, Baliuag Buntal Handicraft Manufacturing, Shelmed Cottage Treasures, Raquel's Piña Cloth Products, and Klowil Agricultural Enterprise Multipurpose Cooperative from Regions I, IV, V, VI, and XII, respectively, had the unique opportunity not only to display and sell their export-quality products but also provide live demonstrations of the intricate weaving processes that yield exceptional creations.

In alignment with BSP’s mission, PhilFIDA shares a common vision of emphasizing the critical roles played by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the agriculture sector. The agency is honored to participate in the MSME Exhibit at the 2023 AFI-GPF, contributing to the celebration of financial inclusion and showcasing the artistry and excellence that define the Philippines’ natural fiber industry.
