The Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, in her concurrent capacity as the Executive Director of PhilFIDA, is spearheading a consultative dialogue with stakeholders in the fibercrop industry in Tuburan, Cebu.

Asec. Velicaria-Guevarra underscores the significance of convening fibercrop stakeholders, providing them with a platform to address, share, and discuss the current situation, challenges, and necessary interventions for fibercrop farmers, local traders, and exporters, especially in the Central Visayas Region.

"PhilFIDA is confident that the progress of the fibercrop industry in the Central Visayas Region, particularly salago, raffia, abaca, cotton, sisal, and maguey, will contribute to higher export earnings for the country. This, in turn, will boost farmers' income, promote domestic processing for employment generation, enhance considerations for higher value-added products, and result in increased foreign exchange revenues," stated Assistant Secretary Velicaria-Guevarra.
