PhilFIDA-RO VII Organizes Training on Basic Handloom Weaving using Cotton Fiber in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental

The Regional Office VII of the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority organized a training session on Basic Handloom Weaving using Cotton Fiber on June 19 to 23, 2023, in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. This training is an essential component of the Cotton Development Project, aimed at enhancing capabilities and providing an alternative source of income for the project's farmer-beneficiaries.
Ms. Nena Locsin, the Provincial Fiber Officer of Negros Oriental Province and the Cotton Focal Person, served as the facilitator for this training. She was joined by other personnel from PhilFIDA RO VII, namely Mr. Cleiford Suante, Ms. Faith Nicole Tizaon, and Mr. Jefferson Ignacio.

The agency is dedicated to promoting the local cotton industry, with a target expansion of 100 hectares of cotton in 2023. This growth aims to improve the region's economic prosperity while supporting local communities and the farmer-beneficiaries associated with the Cotton Development Project.
