LGU-LED LIVELIHOOD TRAINING ON BASIC HANDLOOM WEAVING

The training was graced with the presence of Mr. Ranillo P. Japitana and Ms. Brenda G. Japitana as the trainers, Executive Directors of different countries as member of Asia Regional Alliance, CEO of Woord en Daad, Netherlands and twenty-six (26) women-farmers who are members of the Integrated Network of Samar Abacaleros (INOSA).

The training aims to enhance farmers' knowledge on handloom weaving. A series of lecture topics about tinagak making, handloom weaving and actual demonstration of setting the handloom weaving. Participants were encouraged to apply the skills they learned on the training as source of livelihood for them to have an additional income. The participants expressed their gratitude for the provision of the materials for weaving and for the opportunity given to them.

The activity was facilitated by the Provincial Fiber Officer of Eastern Samar, Mr. Romeo I. Prado, with the OIC of the Regulatory Unit, Ariel C. Cinco, Technical Assistance Unit personnel, Mr. Alquin Uy, field technician, Eastern Samar and Melanie G. Larona, field technician, Leyte.
