FIDA drew crowds at the Pina and Fiber Festival 2013 held recently in Kalibo, Aklan.
   The exhibit of fiber products by processors/exporters from different parts of the country include:  table linens (Bulacan and Marinduque), table tops (Batangas), packaging materials (Cavite and Albay), handwoven abaca fabrics (South Cotabato), fashion accessories (Manila, Iloilo, Misamis Oriental and South Cotabato), home décor/accents (Marikina and Davao), furniture (Pangasinan) and high grade abaca fiber (Mindoro).

    The Festival, now on its 14th year, is an event led by MANTRA (AklanPina and Other Indigenous Fibers Manufacturers and Traders Association, Inc.). Ms. India Legaspi of Heritage Arts and Craft said that the event serves as a venue for traders and manufacturers to showcase their fibers and fiber products including other agricultural products.
   About 30 enterpreneurs participated in the fair which presented different sectors as follows:  fibers and crafts like handwoven fabrics, fashion accessories, housewares, furnishings, processed food, health and wellness and horticulture. 
    The Festival is co-organized by HUGOD Aklanon Producers Association, Inc., the Provincial Government of Aklan, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. and the Fiber Industry Development Authority.
