The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) held a consultative meeting with representatives of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT), at the Fiber Processing and Utilization Laboratory (FPUL) Conference Room, BAI Compound, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. The discussion centered on strengthening abaca fiber exports, exploring new international markets, and enhancing the global promotion of Philippine fibers.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from PHILEXPORT, including PHILEXPORT VP Promotions Leonor D. Abella, EFOSEDC Manager Rosemarie Selisana, and EF Associate Marshanne Basa. PhilFIDA, on the other hand, was represented by OIC-Deputy Executive Director Ramil B. Barcelona, along with key personnel from the Office of the Executive Director. PHILEXPORT expressed strong interest in expanding abaca’s market reach abroad and in aligning with government efforts to improve product standards and marketability.
PhilFIDA affirmed its commitment to supporting exporters through continuous fiber quality improvement, investment promotion, and collaboration with trade organizations. Both parties emphasized the need for sustained cooperation in identifying export opportunities, strengthening the branding of Philippine abaca, and attracting potential investments that will uplift local farmers and boost the country’s position in the global natural fiber market.
