Pursuant to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to advance fiber sector research, production, and education while seizing new growth opportunities, PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza engaged in discussions with PIA Director-General Katherine Chloe S. De Castro, and PIA Head of Press Conference and PMD Darrel Winthrop G. Torres from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) to explore collaboration in promoting the Philippine natural fiber industry.

The discussion focused on strengthening the local fiber market and driving industry growth and development. Key topics included resource sharing, capacity-building initiatives, and training programs aimed at increasing public awareness of the significance of Philippine fibers, particularly abaca, for which the country remains the world’s leading producer.

Through this partnership, PhilFIDA and PIA seek to enhance communication strategies that will elevate the industry’s visibility and expand its reach, reinforcing the importance of the sector in national development.
