The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority Regional Office IV (PhilFIDA RO IV), under the leadership of OIC Regional Director Jose L. Catalla, successfully conducted the turnover of two (2) units of Modified Portable Abaca Single-Spindle Stripping Machines (MPASSSM) on June 3, 2025 to the SANDIWA ARB Cooperative and Diaat Farmers Association in Barangay Sto. Tomas.
The ceremonial turnover was held in collaboration with key provincial stakeholders, including Mr. Reynante K. Tolentino, Executive Assistant from the Office of the Governor; Mr. Arnold V. Novicio, Provincial Agriculturist from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; Ms. Josephine K. Aguinaldo, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II from the Department of Agrarian Reform–Aurora; and Hon. Danilo F. Tejones, Barangay Chairman of Sto. Tomas.
This initiative is part of PhilFIDA’s HIBLA Farming Mechanization Project, aimed at supporting and empowering abaca farmers by providing mechanized tools that enhance productivity and promote the production of high-quality abaca fibers.
To complement the turnover, a hands-on training was conducted focusing on fiber stripping, basic machine operation, and maintenance of the MPASSSM units. This training ensures that the farmer-beneficiaries are fully equipped with the skills and knowledge to maximize the benefits of the technology provided.
PhilFIDA remains committed to advancing the abaca industry through continuous innovation, stakeholder collaboration, and capacity-building initiatives for local farmers.
