PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza and the PhilFIDA team visited Fu Dalu Agricultural Products Trading, a licensed Class A abaca trader based in Sta. Filomena, Iligan City. The visit aimed to strengthen relationships with abaca traders and gain valuable insights into their operations. Manager Robert Garces shared how Fu Dalu works closely with local farmers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality fiber while offering fair and competitive prices. He also introduced innovations in spindle stripping machines, which have improved both portability and fiber recovery rates.
In addition to enhancing fiber processing techniques, Fu Dalu is making significant strides in value-adding initiatives. The company is transforming abaca fibers into high-demand products such as bags, hats, mats, carpets, and furniture. These products are gaining popularity internationally, helping to boost the global presence of the Philippine abaca industry. Executive Director Atienza commended Fu Dalu for these initiatives, recognizing their important role in improving farmer profitability and expanding the international market for abaca-based products.
