Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) Executive Director Arnold “Ali” Atienza with OIC-Regional Director Mary Anne Molina held a courtesy visit to Governor Hon. Joseph C. Cua at the Provincial Government of Catanduanes to discuss strategic initiatives for the abaca industry. The discussions focused on mechanization improvements for fiber extraction, aiming to enhance fiber quality and streamline production processes for greater efficiency and productivity.
Additionally, they explored infrastructure development plans, including proposed access roads and a mono-rail system to facilitate transportation and processing. These initiatives are expected to strengthen the province’s position as the country’s top abaca producer and support the livelihoods of local farmers and stakeholders. The partnership between PhilFIDA and the Provincial Government marks a significant step towards a more sustainable and modernized abaca industry in Catanduanes.
