PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza continues to strengthen the country’s fiber industry. On March 12, 2025, he visited PhilFIDA Regional Office V in Legazpi City, where he was warmly welcomed by OIC Regional Director Mary Anne R. Molina, and Provincial Fiber Officer Roberto B. Lusuegro.
 
During his visit, ED Ali Atienza toured the PhilFIDA Regional Office V, where he met with regional personnel and observed the crucial work in the Abaca Tissue Culture Laboratory. Guided by OIC-Regional Director Molina, Research Coordinator Irma M. Navarro, and Albay Tissue Culture Laboratory In-charge Sarah Jane M. Daz, he was introduced to the intricate process of abaca micropropagation and the disease indexing procedures conducted at the Abaca Diagnostic Laboratory. This firsthand experience provided valuable insights into the techniques and technologies employed in ensuring high-quality fiber production.
 
ED Ali Atienza also engaged in a meaningful dialogue with PhilFIDA employees, emphasizing collaboration, open communication, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of abaca farmers. Accompanied by key officials, Ms. Evelyn B. Cagasan, PhilFIDA Coordinator for Regional Operations; and Sandra Bohne, Director of the Fibral Material Alliance, the visit reinforced the organization’s dedication to strengthening its regional offices and advancing the fiber industry for the benefit of local communities and the nation as a whole.
