The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), led by Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, together with OIC-Regional Director Samuel M. Nacino Jr. and Chief of the Technical Assistance Division Manolito F. Apalla, paid a courtesy visit to Provincial Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr. of Agusan del Sur and the heads of the provincial offices on June 17, 2026.
The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships and identifying areas of cooperation in implementing programs and projects that will further develop the province’s eco-friendly, biodegradable, and sustainable abaca industry. Discussions also emphasized improving the livelihood of local farmers and communities through coordinated initiatives, technical assistance, and stronger collaboration between national and local government agencies.
PhilFIDA remains committed to working closely with its stakeholders in advancing the Philippine natural fiber industry, creating more opportunities for farmers, and promoting sustainable rural development. This initiative is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector through collaboration and sustainable development, and under the leadership of Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr.
