In support of the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for a modernized, science-driven agricultural sector and the continued leadership of Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. in strengthening agricultural research and innovation, the 2026 PhilFIDA In-House Research for Development (R4D) Review officially commenced on June 22–26, 2026 in Quezon City, bringing together researchers, experts, Regional Directors, Division Heads, and evaluators in a collaborative exchange of knowledge and innovation.
 
This year’s R4D Review features 45 research presentations, manuscript reviews, and scientific poster exhibits from the Research Division and the Fiber Utilization and Technology Division (FUTD). Day 1 highlighted studies on Genetics, Crop Production, and Crop Management, showcasing research that supports the sustainable development and global competitiveness of the Philippine fiber industry.
 
In his opening message, PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza commended the dedication of the agency’s researchers and expressed his appreciation to the panel of evaluators, Regional Directors, and Division Heads for their support. He highlighted the R4D Review as a venue for sharing research, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation, while reaffirming PhilFIDA’s commitment to improving the lives of Filipino fiber farmers through research-based programs and technologies.
 
The opening program featured the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Scientific Poster Exhibit, led by Executive Director Atienza together with Dr. Vivencio Mamaril, formally opening the showcase of research and development initiatives from the Research Division and the FUTD.
 
Through research, innovation, and collaboration, PhilFIDA continues to advance a stronger, more resilient, and globally competitive Philippine fiber industry.
