The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), led by Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, together with the Department of Agriculture represented by Undersecretary Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero and the Association of Palm Traders and Investors (APTI) represented by Mr. Harley Luis, met on June 24, 2026, in Quezon City to discuss the successful completion of the first wave of barter trade involving abaca and palm oil.
 
The initiative marks a significant milestone in advancing alternative trade mechanisms, expanding market opportunities for agricultural products, and strengthening economic partnerships. During the meeting, the participants highlighted the positive impact of the trade on the agricultural sector and its potential to create greater opportunities for farmers, producers, and industry stakeholders.
 
The group also expressed optimism for future barter trade activities that will further support economic growth, enhance regional development, and contribute to the continued advancement of the Philippine fiber industry.
 
PhilFIDA remains committed to supporting the agricultural agenda of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Agriculture under Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. by pursuing initiatives that strengthen market access and create sustainable opportunities for Filipino farmers.
