The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority Regional Office VIII (PhilFIDA RO VIII), led by OIC Regional Director Joseph S. Salas, participated in the official launching of the Abaca Tissue Culture Facility at Southern Leyte State University–Hinunangan Campus on January 22, 2025.
This facility aims to boost the production of high-quality abaca planting materials, supporting farmers and strengthening the region’s abaca industry.
Regional Director Salas, along with Mr. Ariel Cinco, Ms. Amor Anadia, and Mr. Hector Cupat, highlighted PhilFIDA’s commitment to research-driven innovations and collaborative efforts with the Department of Science and Technology, local government units, and academic institutions.
Together, we continue to advance sustainable abaca development through science, technology, and innovation.
