The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) led by Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza with Regional Director Edel M. Dondonilla and OIC-Chief of Technical Assistance Division Manolito F. Apalla, engaged with private sector and industry partners to explore potential collaborations focused on sustainable fiber and textile development in line with the development agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the priorities of the Department of Agriculture under the leadership of Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr.
The discussion was held in collaboration with the Mahalina Foundation of Calatagan, Batangas, with the participation of Mr. Cris Green, Consultant, and Ms. Teresa Gerena, Project Director. Key areas explored included possible collaboration on the cotton development project, particularly the expansion of planting areas, as well as the provision of technical assistance in partnership with MASDA AW/Bahay Ugnayan Ms. Nina Tesoro. The meeting also strengthened ties with CordiTex through Ms. Analyn Salvador-Amores, with a shared goal of promoting traditional fabric and textile products, including Inabel. The collaboration emphasized the development and sustainable use of materials such as paper, plastic, plywood, and textiles, anchored on social, ecological, and cultural sustainability.
This initiative reflects PhilFIDA’s continued commitment to inclusive partnerships that support innovation, heritage preservation, and responsible industry growth in support of sustainable national development.
