The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) hosted by Regional Office V conducted a Training on the Safe Operation of the Spindle Stripping Machine with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in Abaca Production on October 17, 2025, in San Miguel, Catanduanes.
The activity aimed to enhance farmers’ skills in operating abaca spindle stripping machines safely and efficiently, while promoting proper fiber handling and quality improvement in abaca production.
The activity was graced by Provincial Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza, Municipal Mayor of San Miguel Hon. Antonio T. Teves, TGP Partylist Representative Hon. Jose “Bong” Teves, Jr., PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, and OIC-Regional Director Mary Anne R. Molina, who expressed their continued support to the abaca industry and to the hardworking abaca farmers of Catanduanes.
PhilFIDA remains steadfast in its commitment to uplifting the lives of abaca farmers, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel, Jr., to boost the fiber industry and ensure a sustainable future for the country’s natural fibers.
