In support of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure sustainable livelihoods for Filipino farmers, the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) led by Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, OIC-Regional Director Mary Anne R. Molina, and OIC-Technical Assistance Division Manolito F. Apalla conducted a field monitoring and technical assistance visit to the one-hectare abaca farm of Mr. Raymond and Carla Zafe in Simamla, Virac, Catanduanes.

During the visit, the PhilFIDA team assessed the farm’s abaca stand and provided on-site guidance on disease management and sustainable abaca cultivation practices. This activity aims to strengthen the productivity and resilience of abaca growers through hands-on technical support and capacity building.

Through the continued efforts of PhilFIDA, under the DA’s banner of Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya, the agency remains committed to revitalizing the abaca industry and uplifting the lives of fiber farmers across the country.
