In support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision to strengthen the country’s fiber industry, the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) under the leadership of Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza and support of PhilFIDA Region XI, held the Abaca Stakeholders’ Investment Forum at Honeys’ Hotel and Restaurant, Davao Oriental. The event, co-funded by Fibers Trading Inc., LPP Trading Corporation, Provincial Government of Davao Oriental (PLGU), and PhilFIDA Region XI spearheaded by Engr. Irma R. Rodis, OIC-Regional Director for Regions XI & XII.

The forum gathered 56 abaca farmers, traders, exporters, and representatives from DTI, DAR, and PLGUs to address key challenges in the abaca sector, including MSP (Daratex) adulteration, limited planting materials, and lack of post-harvest facilities. Stakeholders committed to advancing value-adding initiatives, stronger industry regulation, and sustainable partnerships to boost abaca production and trade.

Aligned with the administration’s push for agriculture modernization and rural development, this collaboration reflects a renewed commitment to protect, sustain, and grow the abaca industry in Davao Oriental, ensuring its continued role in national and global markets.
