In support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to strengthen local industries and promote sustainable livelihoods, PhilFIDA under the leadership of Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza and PhilFIDA Region XI guided by OIC-Regional Director Irma Rodis, conducted a Skills Training on Abaca Fiber Processing: Scrunch and Packaging Making at Salangat Inland Resort, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
The two-day training gathered local farmers, youth, and partner agencies including DTI and the 56th IB–Bravo Company, to learn the techniques of abaca scrunch making and eco-friendly packaging. Participants eagerly took part in hands-on sessions that showcased the artistry and versatility of abaca. The session emphasized how simple materials can be transformed into value-added products with market potential.
Through this initiative, PhilFIDA continues to empower communities by developing their skills, supporting the abaca industry, and promoting inclusive growth for local fiber farmers and artisans across the country.
