The National Fibercrop Survey and Mapping Project (NFSMP) is now in motion! 🚀 This flagship initiative supports the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to uplift farmers’ lives and aligns with the priorities of Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. in building an inclusive and sustainable agriculture sector. The NFSMP will establish a registry and interactive map of fiber crop farms and farmers nationwide, gathering critical data on demographics, farm practices, yields, and production challenges.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Ali Atienza, the project is being spearheaded by the Technical Assistance Division (TAD) in partnership with the PhilFIDA Information, Communication and Technology Unit (PICTU).

As part of the pilot phase, a Briefing and Simulation is being conducted in Virac, Catanduanes from September 17–19, 2025, led by Region V Regional Director Mary Ann Molina. The activity is spearheaded by Engr. Maritess M. Puspus, Technical Consultant from the Office of the Executive Director, with support from PICTU and TAD.

Participants include Region V staff and newly hired Enumerators, who will play a crucial role in conducting field data collection. With full nationwide rollout slated for 2026 and results expected by 2027, the NFSMP underscores PhilFIDA’s mission of building a globally competitive, eco-friendly, and sustainable fiber industry. 🌱✨
