#HIBLATalks | In support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision to strengthen Philippine industries and promote local products globally, PhilFIDA Executive Director Arnold “Ali” Atienza met with DTI Special Trade Representative of the Philippines in Tokyo and head of the Department of Trade Industry’s (DTI) posts in East Asia, Dita Angara-Mathay, to discuss the ongoing and planned initiatives of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Tokyo in support of the Philippine textile industry particularly in the production and global promotion of indigenous Philippine textiles, including abaca, piña, and banana fibers.

The collaboration aims to strengthen the international presence of our natural fibers and open new opportunities for Filipino fiber farmers and rural communities. Platforms such as Rakuten Fashion Week are being explored to highlight the richness of Philippine culture through sustainable and proudly local textiles. With aligned goals, PhilFIDA and PTIC-Tokyo will collaborate closely to promote innovation, heritage, and inclusivity in the fiber industry.
